ExitPay

Turns dense severance agreements into clearer deadlines, decisions, and next steps.

The problem

People receiving severance agreements are usually under stress and short on time, which is a terrible setting for parsing legalese.

Who it's for

Recently terminated employees who need a clearer first pass before deciding whether to involve counsel.

Why I built it

A severance document can be high stakes and strangely unreadable. The first step should be clarity, not panic.

Practitioner review guide

No live workflow yet. Help shape it by describing what someone holding a severance agreement actually needs in the first thirty minutes.

  • What are the two or three decisions that have to be made within the first day of receiving a severance agreement?
  • Which clauses (release of claims, non-disparagement, non-compete, equity treatment) deserve their own plain-English summary?
  • What would the tool need to do for the user to know when to handle it themselves and when to bring in a lawyer?
  • What language would feel calming and honest, instead of alarmist or falsely reassuring?

Severance review is high stakes. The tool will be a first-pass clarity layer, not legal advice.
