My background is a bit of a glitch in the matrix. I've lived and worked in 3 continents.

I started my career 25 years ago as a server-side web developer in Sri Lanka, where I learned that respect was given to authority. Then I moved to New Zealand, where I learned that respect is only earned through character and output. Now, in the US, I apply both lessons to the messiest codebase of all, people.

A game of poker played at scale.

Most people see HR as a department of “no” or a series of handbooks. I see it just as I do a game of poker played at scale. It's about weighing probabilities under uncertainty and making high-stakes decisions with incomplete information.

The bugs are usually in the logic, not the people.

After four scale-ups I realize that whether you're shipping code or scaling a workforce, the bugs are usually in the logic, not the people. If a compensation plan is confusing or a culture is “toxic,” it's usually because the underlying system was poorly designed. I spend my nights exploring new tech and trying to build apps with AI. To lead a modern workforce I want to contribute by building TR programs that make sense and systems that people can actually trust.

I don't use AI (just) because it's the trend, I use it because I love efficiencies. If a tool saves twenty minutes, sharpens a decision, or translates a complex document into something a human would actually say, I am interested. Most nights you'll find me vibe coding with my husband, building small apps and testing LLMs.
