Why An and Aα?
The site uses two related marks. Same construction, different exponent. One is the identity. One is the philosophy. Both are about scale.
An is the public mark.
A is for Armi. n is for Noorata. It also points to scale: one decision, one system, or one idea raised to the power of however many people it touches.
That is how Total Rewards work in real life. A compensation choice is never just a number on a page. It travels through trust, behavior, teams, and time.
Aα is the philosophy mark.
Same A, different exponent. In finance, α (alpha) means excess return: value created beyond what a benchmark would predict.
Here, it is the bet behind the work. Fair pay and well-designed people systems should not only be defensible. Done well, they should create extra clarity, trust, and value, the kind a cost-only spreadsheet does not capture.
Both marks are about scale.
An asks: how far does one decision travel?
Aα asks: what extra value does a better system create?
The first is a question about reach. The second is a question about return. Most of the work on this site sits somewhere between the two.
